Welcome
Mars Hill Elementary School is located at 200 School House Lane, Mars Hill, NC. Mars Hill High School opened in 1938 with one rock building serving grades 1-12. In 1974, all the high schools in the county combined with the completion of Madison High School. Mars Hill High School then became Mars Hill Elementary School, serving students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Madison Middle School opened in 1992 leaving Mars Hill Elementary serving only Kindergarten through fifth grade. Since 1950, additions have been made to the campus; the most recent being a large expansion in 2001. Mars Hill Elementary is fortunate to have two playgrounds, one for K-2 and another for grades 3-5. This elementary school enjoys strong ties to Mars Hill University, a Baptist, co-educational college founded in 1856. A part of Madison County, Mars Hill is much like the rest of the surrounding area in that the town is in a rural setting. Since the opening of I-26 between Asheville, NC and Johnson City, TN, Mars Hill is beginning to show signs of growth in the food and services industry.
