Principal's Message

Dear MHES Family,

We are thrilled to kick off the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Kristina Lowe, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Mars Hill Elementary School. My husband, Cameron, and our children—Carson, Collin, and Clint—are proud to call Madison County our home.

I am a proud product of Madison County Schools, and continued my education at Mars Hill University, NC State University, and Liberty University. I taught at Madison High School from 2008-2011 in Business Education and 2011-2021 in the English department teaching English I, II, III, Journalism, Drama and facilitated dual enrollment courses. I was in Buncombe County from 2021- December 2023 as a Blended Learning coach working with teachers to integrate different technology tools into daily lessons K-12. In December of 2023, I had the amazing opportunity to come home to Madison County and Mars Hill Elementary School as Assistant Principal. 

This year, my primary goal is to support our incredible staff, students, and families. The safety of our community remains our top priority, alongside fostering academic growth. I believe that learning can be both fun and challenging, and it’s often through challenges that we grow the most.

Parent involvement is crucial to our school’s success. When parents engage in their child’s education, students thrive! I encourage you to get involved with our amazing PTO, which is always looking for new members and innovative ways to support our students. This past year, they installed a new blacktop court on our 3-5 playground, supported classrooms, and provided treats for our dedicated teachers. If joining the PTO isn’t possible for you, please consider supporting their fundraising efforts.

We’ll be communicating with families in various ways this year. Look out for our weekly phone calls on Sunday evenings with important updates for the upcoming week.
